Dr. Agnieszka Jędruch

Dr. Agnieszka Jędruch is the co-head of the International Baltic Earth Secretariat on behalf of the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. She is a marine chemist specializing in the biogeochemical cycling of mercury in temperate and polar marine ecosystems. Her current research focuses on mercury exchange across the sediment–water interface at munition dumpsites in the Baltic Sea, as well as its uptake and trophic transfer through primary producers and benthic invertebrates. She is also interested in marine ecology, particularly food web interactions, biodiversity, and ecosystem functioning.

Dr. Jędruch is the author or co-author of numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications and book chapters, and has contributed to a wide range of national and international research and R&D projects. A regular participant in scientific conferences, she is also an active science communicator, working at the intersection of science, technology, and policy to promote sustainable solutions for the marine environment.
