Baltic Earth starts an open call for a young scientist to become a member of the Baltic Earth Science Steering Group (BESSG) for a period of 3 years with the possibility of extension.

One outcome of an open discussion and feedback process following the 4th Baltic Earth Conference in Jastarnia, Poland, was the underrepresentation of young scientists in the steering level of Baltic Earth.

We encourage young scientists (PhD degree date plus up to 6 years) from any of the Baltic Earth research fields to apply for this task. We also encourage supervisors and senior scientists to forward this call to interested candidates. If there is more than one application, the candidate will be elected by the BESSG.

The successful candidate should be willing to participate in all BESSG meetings (as far as possible), which take place every half year, either online or onsite. The full description of tasks can be seen in the BESSG Terms of Reference

Baltic Earth Science Steering Group

The candidate will be able to help shape the future direction of Baltic Earth and contribute to the next Baltic Earth Science Plan 2024, for which preparations are now underway. All in all, the work load is low, but it is the chance to participate in a high-level steering group and help shaping the future scope of Baltic Earth.

There is no remuneration or any other financial or logistical support associated with this task. Interested candidates are asked to send a short (max. 1p) letter of motivation, a short scientific CV, a publication list as well as names and e-mail addresses of two referees to marcus.reckermann@hereon.de,
before 1 August 2023.

We regret that we currently cannot accept any applications from candidates with a Russian or Belrusian affiliation.

We are looking forward to receiving your application!
